HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

I was practically born with a pair of tap shoes on. My mama, Kyleen Seymour, was a tap dance teacher and my first appearance on stage was at ten months old!  This was a sign...I was a ham from the start.  So, what else was my mom to do after taking me to dance class?  Well, at ten years old, she took me to an audition for Peter Pan. Second star to the right and straight on till morning....that was it...I was hooked!  It wasn’t long before I was taking private voice lessons, continuing my dance classes and performing in musicals whenever I could.

Fullerton High School brought opportunities such as choir, dance production, cheerleading, drama classes, but I never stopped auditioning and performing.  My first professional gig was in 42nd Street at Fullerton Civic Light Opera (FCLO) when I was a mere freshman in high school.  Cypress College is where I headed next as a Dance major.  This is where I was exposed to and fell in love with choreographing and had the opportunity to choreograph for student dance concerts.  From Cypress College it was off to New York to attend NYU Tisch School of The Arts where I received my B.F.A. in Theater.  New York taught me so much about not only my craft, but life and love!

After five and a half years in NYC I returned to sunny CA.  I began focussing on acquiring more roles as well as work as a choreographer.  It was working in theatre where I was introduced to The Music Room School of Performing Arts in Orange.  It is there where I worked for six years with children ages 6-18 as a director and choreographer for the musical theatre program.  I cannot express how wonderful it is to teach and work with children. I absolutely love it!

In 2012 I moved back to NYC with my husband, Carlos Martin, leaving my position as Associate Artistic Director for 3-D Theatricals (3DT) in Southern California, a Co-Founder, and also a choreographer for the company.  We lived in New York for over seven years where I worked as a trainer for CardioTapNYC, a teaching artist with KJK Productions, and in 2018, had the amazing opportunity to work with A.S.T.E.P. (Artists Striving To End Poverty) as a volunteer Musical Theatre teaching artist in India at the Shanti Bhavan Children's Project.

Life changed in the most amazing way when my husband and I found out we were having a baby!  We decided to relocate to Denver, Colorado to raise our baby girl and continue our careers as artists.  I expanded my artistic scope and started music directing with kids in children's theatre. Within that venture, I met Rebecca, and I am now Co-Owner/Director of a company with her called Apex Performing Arts Collective.

I was not only given the gift of singing and dancing, but married my best friend, Carlos Martin, became a Mama, and all along the way, my family and friends have been by my side supporting and loving me.  I am truly blessed!!
